Shira and Ari regularly contribute illustrations to The Indypendent, a progressive, anti-war newspaper with a print and online readership of about 50,000. You can pick up a free copy from numerous locations around New York City.
Ari designed a site that established international activist-art-clown troupe The Glass Contraption's online presence and provided them with a way to catalogue previous productions, promote new happenings and inform potential funders about their work.
The project began with an extensive branding consultation that resulted in the troupe's updated logo, along with secondary graphics and iconography that appear throughout the site as well as in printed materials.
Ari makes posters for the Socialist Party of New York City, promoting the organization's free screenings, community forums, and panels featuring visiting politicians and activists from around the world. Many feature her original illustration work, while others make use of archival images or photography taken by other activists.
The posters are distributed throughout NYC; digital versions appear on SPNYC's website and are used for online outreach, appearing in online calendars and other publications.
Asexuality: The Making of a Movement is a feature-length documentary, which is currently being produced by Arts Engine's production department, Big Mouth Films. The film explores the world of Asexuals, a growing community of people who are out about not wanting to have sex. With segments on The View and 20/20, the small group has been gaining visibility, while at the same time many outside the community just don't get it. Shira edited an eight-minute development trailer for the film. She also created original illustrations that she incorporated into the trailer and that are featured on promotional materials for the project.
